Master Suite

In this project, the dark, confined spaces in the third floor of a DC row house were converted into a luxurious, bright master suite.  The clients wanted to use materials with a natural color palate to establish a modern, urban statement in their space.  The resulting design incorporated warm earth tones to create a soothing escape from the city.

The master bedroom design transformed the dingy upstairs space into a beautiful contemporary oasis.  The clients’ love for nature inspired the stacked cultured stone wall, which creates a focal point for the room, and the cherry wood utilized throughout the space.  The small existing closet was removed to open the space, and a new walk-through closet was created in the adjacent room.  Custom closet doors were made with frosted glass and cherry wood, which is a common theme in the entire suite.

The master bath was expanded into the adjacent bedroom to allow space for a double vanity and large soaking tub.  The bath design continues the natural theme of the suite with a stacked stone wall behind the tub, a wood vanity and shutters, and limestone tile on the floor and walls.  The new bath, with its clean lines and warm finishes, provides the inviting retreat desired by the clients.
